“In Dégaine (”style", "special look" in English), we're interested in the body and its representations through allure, silhouette, clothing, posture... and we navigate between anthropological and artistic research. What do our clothes and attitudes say about us? What happens in imitation? What if we swapped jackets? A gesture?"

The performance took the form of a participatory installation in a former store window in Brussels, where we worked during a week-long residency. The scenography includes interviews, films and photos on the theme of the “dégaine”, and is arranged in the window facing the spectators. Little by little, the public is invited to move from the street to our office, from the outside to the inside of the exhibition space, so that they can transform themselves, and end up performing their own representation.

“Dans Dégaine, on s’intéresse au corps et à ses représentations à travers l’allure, la silhouette, les vêtements, la posture… et on navigue entre recherches anthropologiques et artistiques. Que disent de nous nos vêtements et nos attitudes? Que se passe t’il dans l'imitation? Et si nous échangions de veste? De geste?”

La performance s’est déroulée sous la forme d’une installation participative, dans une ancienne vitrine de magasin à Bruxelles, dans laquelle nous avons travaillé pendant une semaine de résidence. L’ensemble de la scénographie regroupe des interviews, des films, et des photos, autour du thème de la dégaine, et est disposé dans la vitrine face aux spectateur.rices. Peu à peu, le public est invité à passer de la rue à notre bureau de travail, de l’extérieur à l’intérieur de l’espace d’exposition, afin qu’il se transforme, et finisse par performer sa propre représentation.
